Well, here is Blog #1..... I decided to talk about my new phone the htc Inspire 4G provided by AT&T.
(keep in mind I am not a professional by any means, this is just one ordinary, everyday persons opinion about his phone)
First a little history............We had been Centennial Wireless customers for what seemed like forever, I think since 1995. We were fairly happy with the service, had a few no service areas but they were few and far between.
This Spring, 2011, we decided to do some looking at other providers, as we always do when our contracts are up. We looked at all the major players in the area and consulted many friends and family to see who we may want to go with. Since Centennial wireless was purchased by AT&T we started getting pricing from them to start. Due to all the hype surrounding AT&T about their slow network, dropped calls etc etc etc, I wasn't real enthused about going with AT&T but what the heck, in the end it's all about $$.
Well, in the end AT&T won out, they had the best prices for what we wanted and they had the phones with the features we were looking for.
I decided on a new phone for AT&T, the htc Inspire 4G. I did a little research before I bought but not a lot (typically I research purchases to death before I buy but not this time). I knew that I wanted a smartphone with Android technology and I liked the looks of the Desire. After picking up the phone and playing with it for a while I became a little frustrated with it at first. This was my first Android based phone and didn't really know how to use it. (My previous phone was a Nokia E71). My frustration came with the lack of instructions with the phone, the instructions provided were very basic to say the least. However after I put it down for a bit and gave it a rest I started playing with it again, things started to make sense, all it took was sitting down and playing, there are so many different things this phone can do its almost mind boggling... Just remember that the menu button has many different applications and is used to access different commands. While I could go into all the in and outs of this phone, it would take pages and pages, I think it would be much easier to go to the AT&T site with the link provided above.
After the initial frustration wore off (very quickly I must add) I began to really enjoy this phone!! The 8mp camera takes very nice pics for a phone, not much of a zoom but good enough (it is a phone after all). The touch sensitivity seems to be VERY touchy but you get used to it. Personalizing the home screen is a snap and you have room for many applications. There is an app for that...and that.... and that, there is a plethora of apps out there to suit your every need.
So far I am very please with the phone and its capabilities (its been about a month). I have only had one instance where it froze up and I had to turn it off and turn it back on again but I think it was my fault and was touching to many things to quickly. I have absolutely no complaints about this phone, simply put I love it.
One thing to note, because this phone is new there are not a lot of accessories for it at any of the local stores, and even on the internet they are few and far between if you can find them in stock. I'm just bidding my time till more accessories come out.
And as far as AT&T being slow, dropping calls etc.... this is one family that is glad they changed to AT&T and would recommend them to any and all friends and family. The coverage has been great, the customer service has been top notch and we have no complaints what-so-ever. So if your thinking of switching service providers I highly recommend AT&T....at least take a look at it and compare.
well, till the next time...........
I've been wanting one of those phones since they came out. I have to wait until August before I can get a new phone though. Bring it up to I.T. when you have a little time so I can see it, if you don't mind. Terry
